Two Years that Transformed Warda’s Life

When Warda joined the Kisa Program in 2024, she was a student with little confidence and uncertainty about her future. A year later, she stood as a Head Girl in her school, leading more than 800 students with confidence and purpose. Her journey reflects what the 2026 Kisa graduation truly represents, not just the completion of a program, but real transformation in the lives of girls like her, who are now stepping into leadership and shaping their futures.

Warda is a Form Six Student (now a Kisa Program graduate)  at one of our partner schools and a Kisa Scholar who has successfully completed the two-year Kisa Program as of 2026 (what a proud moment to celebrate).

Throughout her leadership journey, Warda has experienced massive benefits from the Kisa Program, from becoming less confident to growing into a more confident young leader, and even contesting for a school leadership position as Head Girl. She was successfully elected and is now leading more than 800 students.

She said, “Since I joined the Kisa Program, I have gained a lot of benefits. For instance, as a girl I did not have enough confidence, but after joining Kisa I became more confident to the point where I was able to contest for the Head Girl position at my school, and I won to become the Head Girl.”

Her leadership goes far beyond just holding a position, but leading with purpose. She is a bridge between her fellow students and the school administration. Most importantly, she believes in the power of teamwork to bring change, as she confidently supervises her fellow students and serves as a role model in her school community. This is something she had always wanted to do but feared before joining the Kisa Program. Now, she leads with confidence.

The most astonishing thing is that the Kisa Program gave her a chance to practice leadership skills, which in turn have become a strong support in her role. “During my leadership journey, I have been able to confidently supervise my fellow students and serve as a role model to others. This is because the Kisa Program gave me the confidence to take on leadership roles and cooperate with other students to bring development in my school,”  said Warda.

Through the Kisa Program, Warda also gained career skills that helped her better understand the career path she wishes to pursue after completing her education, all through the Kisa Career Sessions. Warda is not just a leader, but a leader with clear dreams for her future. She did not only gain clarity on the career path she wants to take, but also on where to study for it, something she did not know before the Kisa Career sessions.

She shared: “Kisa Program in Career session 3 helped me to have a vision in my life. For instance, I have known the career that I wish to pursue, which is to be an architect. So when I finish my A Level studies, I plan to join a university such as Ardhi University or UDSM to study Architecture, the science of designing and constructing buildings. Through the program, I learned the process of achieving my dreams. Thank you so much GLAMI. I am happy for my personal growth and I am going to make a positive impact in my community.”

Warda’s mentor also observed the changes and is deeply proud of the impact Warda has made, is making, and will continue to make. She said, “As a mentor I have observed significant positive changes in Warda since she joined the program up to her graduation. She has grown into a strong leader, both for herself and among her fellow students. I am very proud of her and every other girl that has graduated from the Kisa Program.”

When a mentor expresses pride in her scholars, it is not just an emotional response, it reflects the close journey of witnessing transformation first-hand. It shows that the work being done is meaningful, that it does not go in vain, and that it is contributing to the development of confident young female leaders who are actively bringing positive change to their communities.

Warda has demonstrated clear positive changes, shown in how she has applied what she learned within her school community. Warda is a clear demonstration of what it means to join the Kisa Program and the impact it creates. She is just one among more than 1,000 girls who have graduated from the program.

Her story reflects the transformation that takes place when girls are empowered through leadership and career skills, equipping them to shape their futures and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
