Binti Program | Binti Graduation | 30th September 2025
Binti classes are usually exciting, full of laughter and fun. But this moment was even more special, as scholars danced, rejoiced, and celebrated four years of learning, growth, and resilience. The Binti Shupavu Graduation is a powerful moment that honors the courage, determination, and achievements of girls who have actively and successfully participated in all four years of the program. It also means that they have remained in school throughout the four years, as required by the Tanzania Education system, and are now ready to sit for their final national examinations, which will give them the opportunity to continue with further education and reach their goals.
Binti Shupavu, a Swahili phrase meaning ‘Courageous Daughters’ in English, perfectly reflects the confidence and courage girls need to overcome challenges related to school and learning that often affect their ability to continue with their education. Over the course of their four-year lower secondary school journey, these girls overcame academic and personal challenges, embraced learning, and built the confidence to shape their futures. Graduation marks the culmination of these efforts, recognizing girls who persevered through all four years, attended school regularly, and remained in school until the final year.

From the very beginning, the girls joined the program with curiosity, hope, and a desire to grow. Throughout the years, they gained life skills such as staying motivated, becoming leaders, maintaining good health and well-being, building resilience, career exploration and overcoming challenges, both in school and in life. The program also helped them develop the confidence to face challenges with determination and courage.
The graduation ceremony was filled with joyful and reflective moments. Mentors shared stories of growth, perseverance, and transformation from the Binti Scholars who were graduating. The girls confidently presented what they had learned, celebrated their achievements, and reflected on their journey. Many shared how the program helped them manage challenges, improve academically, and believe in their future possibilities.
Judith, from Mbokomu Secondary School, shared:
“I would like to sincerely thank GLAMI through the Binti Shupavu program because we have received many valuable lessons. One of them is how to live well with people in the community and also the importance of maintaining good hygiene.”
Restituta added: “We congratulate our mentors for guiding us, encouraging us, advising us, and even supporting us when we faced various challenges. We are very grateful to all our mentors, and we know their support will not end here. Thank you.”

Parents and teachers also expressed their happiness in seeing positive changes from the Program Scholars; girls becoming more responsible, disciplined, and focused on their dreams. The event highlighted what happens when girls are provided with lifeskills, a mentor to support and guide, and a safe space to express themselves.Madam Clara, a Liaison at one of our partner schools, said “We are very grateful to GLAMI for recognizing the importance of educating girls and understanding their needs. We have seen great changes in these girls through the Binti program, especially in their discipline, moral behavior, and regular school attendance.”

As we celebrate the Binti Shupavu class of 2025, we honor their hard work and the dedication of the mentors who walked with them every step of the way. This graduation does not mark the end, but the beginning of new opportunities. These young girls now step forward with the confidence to shape their future and create impact in their communities.
The scholars also shared their own experiences of the event:
Chausiku, a Binti graduate said: “Today is a very special day for me. I am very grateful to my Mentors for guiding me and teaching me. May God continue to bless their work.”
Hidaya also added saying : “Today has made me very happy; I am so full of joy that I can hardly express myself. First, I thank Binti Shupavu for guiding us, advising us, teaching us, and even supporting us.”
This graduation not only marked the end of one chapter but also signified the achievement of completing four years of school, engaging fully with the Binti Shupavu program, and successfully sitting for their lower secondary school final examinations. It also opened the door to new opportunities as scholars transition into the next stage of their academic and personal development.
